Girls Who Paddle SD started in June 2026 with a simple idea: getting San Diego women out on the water to make friendships, build community, and find other ladies to paddleboard with. No cliques, no experience required, no pressure — just show up, paddle, and leave lighter than you came.

Meet the founder
Hannah Ohman
Hannah is a San Diego-based attorney turned real estate professional and the founder of Girls Who Paddle SD. She started the group in June 2026 after realizing the paddleboard she’d bought the year before had never left its box. She wanted to spend the summer learning to paddle and meeting women to paddle with, so she put the idea out on social media. The rest is history. The idea has resonated with thousands of women across San Diego, and she’s incredibly grateful for the turnout and support. Watching real friendships form right in front of her, and making new friends herself, has been the best part of it all.
Outside of real estate, Hannah does social media marketing for local real estate agents and businesses. She also runs social media for Smittens Rescue, a local cat rescue, and is a proud cat lady herself with one senior kitty at home.
You’ll find her leading most weekly paddles at Mission Bay, usually the first one to welcome a newcomer to the beach.
